Search your articles and categories from any AI assistant

Overview

The HelpDocs MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect directly to your knowledge base. Once connected, your assistant can search, read, and even draft articles for you without leaving its own interface.

MCP is an open standard, so the same setup works across any MCP-compatible client. After connecting, your assistant can search your articles and categories, read the full content of any article, create, update, and delete articles and categories including drafts, and pull analytics and account details.

Setup varies slightly by client, but the flow is the same everywhere. Add a new MCP connection, name it HelpDocs, paste your MCP URL, and complete the authorization steps. If you have multiple HelpDocs accounts, you can choose which one to connect during authorization. To confirm it’s working, ask your assistant something like “Search my HelpDocs articles for billing”. If it returns a list of your articles, you’re all set.

  • Works across any MCP-compatible client, so one setup fits Claude, ChatGPT, and more
