You've already written the answers. They're just in your sent folder.

Small teams rarely have a documentation problem so much as a duplication problem. The same six answers get retyped every week, slightly differently each time, and none of them are anywhere a customer could find on their own.

WHAT MATTERS WHEN YOU'RE SMALL

Fast to start, cheap to keep running.

Built for the person who is doing support, marketing, and the documentation, usually in the same afternoon.

Live the same day

Live the same day

Pick a template, add your logo and colors, point it at your domain. No implementation project and nobody to book a call with.

AI writes the first draft

AI writes the first draft

Give it a title and a few bullet points and it produces a structured article, so the answer you have typed fifty times finally gets written down once.

And tells you how to fix it

And tells you how to fix it

Improve with AI scores the article and lists specific suggestions: the broken link, the missing step, the bit that does not sound like you.

Looks like you, without a developer

No-code colors, fonts, and layout, light and dark. Custom CSS is there on every plan for the last ten percent if you want it.

See what people actually read

See what people actually read

Top articles by views, so you know which answers are earning their keep and which ones nobody has ever needed.

Tidy up in bulk

Tidy up in bulk

Filter by category, tag, or search term and act on the whole set at once, which matters when the person doing it is also doing four other jobs.

AI drafting

Describe it once. Get an article.

Give it a title and a few notes and AI writes the first pass, so the job becomes editing rather than starting. AI credits come with the plan rather than as an add-on.

Getting started

Your first afternoon.

Not a project plan. Three things you can finish today, which is the only version of this that small teams ever actually complete.

  1. 1

    Import or start fresh

Bring in an existing FAQ or export, or start from the knowledge base template. Either way you are not looking at an empty sidebar.

  2. 2

    Write your six most-asked

Open your sent folder, find the answers you keep retyping, and paste each one into AI drafting to shape it into an article.

  3. 3

    Point it at your domain

Add one DNS record, match your colors, and send the link the next time somebody asks.

We should be straight about the price.

HelpDocs starts at $129/mo, and there is no free tier. For some small businesses that is an easy call against the hours it saves, and for others it plainly is not. Both are reasonable.

Worth it if

Support is eating real hours every week, customers ask the same things repeatedly, or the answers only live with one person and that is starting to worry you.

Not worth it if

You get a handful of varied enquiries a month, or you need free more than you need polish. Start with the free options instead.

FAQ

Small business questions

Is there a free plan?
No. HelpDocs starts at $129/mo ($99/mo billed annually) and there is a free trial, but no permanently free tier. If free is a hard requirement, we round up the genuinely free options on free knowledge base software, including several we would happily recommend over paying us.
How small is too small for a knowledge base?
The useful test is not headcount, it is repetition. If you are answering the same handful of questions every week, or the answers only exist in one person's inbox, a knowledge base pays for itself. If you get a few varied enquiries a month, a good contact page is enough and you should not buy anything.
Do we need someone technical to set it up?
No. Styling, categories, and publishing are all no-code, and connecting a custom domain is a DNS record. Custom CSS and HTML are available if you want them, but nothing requires you to touch either.
How many articles should we start with?
Fewer than you think. Ten good articles covering your most repeated questions beat fifty thin ones, and they are easier to keep true. Our guide to the first ten articles is a decent running order.
Can we use it internally as well as for customers?
Yes. The same account can hold a public help center and private, permissioned articles for your team. The internal knowledge base page covers that side.

Write it once. Send the link forever.
