Give Plain AI your knowledge base as a sitemap source, with deletions handled

Every URL in your sitemap is indexed as its own page
Overview
Plain handles deletion properly, which is rarer than it should be. It crawls every URL in your sitemap as a separate indexed page, and pages that later drop out of the sitemap are removed on the next reindex. Archive an article in HelpDocs and it stops being quoted back at customers, rather than lingering in a stale index.
Reindexing runs weekly and only ingests content that actually changed, so manual reindexes are cheap. Because a reindex can be triggered from the UI, the GraphQL API, or the CLI, wiring it into your publish flow is realistic rather than theoretical.
What you can do
- Every URL in your sitemap is indexed as its own page
- Articles you archive drop out of Plain's knowledge on the next reindex
- Weekly auto-reindex, and only changed content is re-ingested
- Reindex on demand from the UI, the GraphQL API, or the CLI
Setting it up
- In Plain, go to Plain AI, then Knowledge, then Sitemaps, then Add sitemap
- Paste your sitemap URL: https://your-slug.helpdocs.io/sitemap.xml
- Let the first index run
- Optionally trigger a reindex from the API or CLI when you publish
Requirements
- Your knowledge base must be public, since Plain does not index login-gated pages
- HTML and Markdown are indexed. PDFs attached to articles are skipped
- Up to 1MB of raw content per page
